Job Summary
The Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) is actively seeking qualified candidates for a Faculty - General Studies (English) position in the United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will provide effective English Foreign Language (EFL) instruction to second-language learners within a student-centric learning environment that fosters deep respect for student culture and traditions, while actively participating in college and community academic events.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery & Student Engagement
- Provide high-quality instruction in English Foreign Language (EFL) tailored to second-language learners at the tertiary level.
- Create a dynamic, student-centric classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and cultural respect.
- Design, administer, and evaluate student assessments aligned with institutional learning outcomes and program standards.
- Integrate modern pedagogical methods and digital instructional tools to enhance student language acquisition.
Institutional & Community Participation
- Assist in the development, review, and preservation of system-wide and directorate-specific academic policies.
- Engage as an active participant in academic committee meetings, faculty gatherings, and campus life initiatives.
- Contribute to extra-curricular student events, workshops, and community outreach programs organized by the college.
- Provide academic advising, mentoring, and support to help students meet their language proficiency milestones.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Master’s Degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, English Literature, Education, or a related relevant field from an accredited institution.
- Proven post-qualification experience in teaching English as a Foreign / Second Language (EFL/ESL) at the college or university level.
- Demonstrated commitment to student-centric teaching and multicultural educational environments.
- Strong collaboration, interpersonal, and communication skills for working within multidisciplinary faculty teams.
- Familiarity with higher education curriculum development and academic quality assurance standards.
