Job Summary
About the role
Al Futtaim Private Company LLC is hiring an Accountant in Dubai to support the financial controlling of IKEA’s business in the UAE, Qatar and Oman. You would handle day-to-day accounting for the trading business using SAP and Navision, and work with stores, other business functions, suppliers and external parties. The main areas are sales and cash collection entries, purchase postings, accounts payable and inter-company transactions, all under strict internal controls.
What you will do
Sales and cash collection
- Work with the cash office team on daily cash collection summaries for stores, the central unit and restaurants, and follow up on daily postings.
- Help the cash office team fix system issues together with IKEA’s IT team.
- Review cash collection reconciliation reports regularly and reconcile the collection summary at month-end in Navision.
- Share entries with the R2R and O2C teams for posting, and resolve sales reconciliation differences quickly.
- Prepare monthly general ledger (GL) schedules.
Purchases
- Handle purchase postings in Navision and upload purchases to SAP, checking they match between the two systems.
- Work with the in-store logistics team to explain differences.
- Review the GL accounts each month so purchase entries are booked correctly.
Accounts payable
- Work with the shared service AP team to reconcile vendor control accounts and review vendor reconciliations monthly.
- Handle utility and other ad hoc payments with the departments involved.
Controls and compliance
- Follow group accounting and financial policies, keep internal controls in place, and work with teams to handle VAT compliance consistently.
Inter-company movements (ICM)
- Run inter-company reports regularly, follow up on pending invoices, accept ICMs, and keep an updated pending report.
- Coordinate with the other companies to clear pending ICMs.
What the employer is looking for
- Bachelor’s degree in finance (minimum)
- At least 3 years of experience as an accounts executive or accounts assistant
- Experience in tax accounting is an advantage
- Good Excel and MS Office skills
- Knowledge of accounting software, preferably an ERP such as SAP
- Attention to detail, clear communication with stakeholders, and analytical skills for solving problems and explaining variances
