Career Preparation Guide & Candidate Advice
Who this role suits
This suits an experienced accountant, with five years or more, who can handle the whole accounting cycle for a small or mid-size company and who is fluent in Russian and English. It is not an assistant or junior role, and it is not suitable if you don't speak Russian, since the employer lists it as a requirement.
A day in this job (general picture, not an official schedule)
You might start by checking the bank balances and posting the previous day's entries. During the day you'd enter supplier invoices, issue customer invoices, process expense claims and answer questions from other departments. Toward month-end the work shifts to reconciliations, accruals, depreciation and tax figures, and when an audit is due, preparing documents.
Skills to refresh before applying
- VAT return basics and the UAE corporate income tax rules, so you can talk about them in an interview.
- How to record accruals, prepayments and provisions correctly at month-end.
- Fixed asset accounting: when to capitalize, how to depreciate, and how to record a disposal.
- If you haven't used Odoo or SAP Business One, watch a beginner tutorial on posting entries and running reports.
Documents to prepare
- CV showing 5+ years of accounting, the systems you used and your tax experience
- Degree certificate and experience letters
- Passport copy and a recent photo
Common application mistakes
- Not stating your Russian and English level, which the employer treats as a requirement.
- Listing "accounting" skills without saying which areas you handled, such as inventory, fixed assets or VAT.
- Leaving out numbers, such as the number of invoices, bank accounts or audits you supported.
