Career Preparation Guide & Candidate Advice
CV tips
- Show Excel skills with examples, such as tracking data, building reports or using formulas, not just “good at Excel.”
- Mention any work with quotations, proposals, tenders or records, even from internships or university projects.
- If you have healthcare experience, put it near the top, since the employer prefers it.
- Show accuracy: “maintained records for 200+ clients with no billing errors” is better than “detail-oriented.”
Topics to prepare for an interview (typical for this kind of role, not official questions)
- How you organize many tasks and deadlines
- Your Excel level, and a time you made a report or fixed a spreadsheet problem
- How you would handle a client request that needs input from several teams
- How you check that prices and documents are correct before sending them
- Why healthcare and why laboratory services
Sample questions and how to answer
- How do you handle several deadlines at once? Explain how you list tasks, rank them by urgency, and update your manager if something may slip.
- What would you do if a quotation had the wrong price after it was sent? Say you’d tell your manager quickly, correct it with Finance, inform the client clearly, and add a check to prevent it again.
- How would you research a competitor? Mention their services, prices if public, clients, strengths and weaknesses, and how you’d summarize it in a short report.
- Why do you want this role? Prepare your own honest answer. Link your organization skills to supporting a team that serves hospitals and clinics.
Common mistakes
- Saying “I know Excel” without examples
- No questions for the interviewer. Prepare 2-3, such as how the sales team works with Finance.
- Applying without reading what NRL does
