Senior Valuation Controller (Finance & Accounting)
Job Summary
Emirates NBD is hiring a Senior Valuation Controller in its Treasury Finance team, working with the Global Markets & Treasury business. The job is to make sure the bank’s trading portfolios are valued correctly. That means checking prices against independent sources, adjusting valuations where needed, and keeping proper controls and records in place. The role covers the whole valuation control process across a wide range of traded products.
Key Responsibilities
What you will do
- Build and maintain the valuation methods, control standards and documentation for traded products.
- Set up and run independent price verification (IPV), which means collecting outside market data and testing whether the bank’s prices are reasonable.
- Develop fair value adjustment methods and reserves, and decide how the profit or loss from a new trade’s first day (Day 1 P&L) should be recognised, deferred or released under IFRS and company policy.
- Investigate valuation changes, IPV exceptions and uncertain valuations, check that reserves are adequate, and support fair value hierarchy reviews and disclosures.
- Work with Front Office, Risk, Finance, Quant and Technology teams to resolve valuation problems, support new products, improve governance and automate more of the work.
What the employer is looking for
- A postgraduate degree, or equivalent, in finance, economics, mathematics or a similar quantitative subject. CFA or FRM is a plus.
- At least 8 years of hands-on work in IPV and/or fair value adjustments, plus wider valuation control experience across several asset classes.
- Good knowledge of derivatives, structured products, IFRS 13, ASC 820 and Basel III, and experience in a trading-floor setting.
- Strong maths and statistics, with Python or VBA skills.
- Good communication, presentation and stakeholder skills. Experience with Calypso, Bloomberg or Reuters is an advantage.
